ICON: A Journey of Melodies and Controversies

In the kaleidoscopic world of K-pop, ICON emerged as a quintet of talented artists, their music resonating with both passion and controversy.

Formation and Early Challenges

ICON was founded in 2015 under the management of 1theK, a subsidiary of LOEN Entertainment. Its original lineup consisted of five members: Chan, Junhoe, Woojin, DK, and Jihun. However, tragedy struck in 2016 when member No MinWoo passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void in the group.

Controversies and Legal Battles

Despite their musical success, ICON has faced its share of controversies. In 2017, former member Kim Junhoe was accused of sexual assault by an anonymous woman. The allegations sparked public outcry and led to his departure from the group.

Additionally, ICON has been embroiled in legal battles with its management company. In 2018, the members filed a lawsuit against 1theK, alleging unfair treatment and contract violations. The dispute was eventually settled out of court.

Discography and Musical Style

Despite the challenges, ICON has released a string of successful songs and albums. Their debut single, "Rhythm Ta," became an instant hit in South Korea and established them as a force to be reckoned with. Their follow-up tracks, including "Airplane," "Goodbye Road," and "Replay," further solidified their reputation for catchy melodies and energetic performances.

Musically, ICON's style blends elements of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Their songs often convey themes of love, loss, and perseverance, resonating with audiences of all ages.
